Mindfulness is all over these days. You’re going to read articles on the Times, you’re going to read articles on your local newspaper, you’re going to see things on TV and on the news that you really don’t understand what it means. Because it’s almost like throwing a word out there without understanding the meaning behind the action itself.
This time let’s talk today about mindfulness and medical marijuana. That’s where we’ve been focusing our Practice here in Pensacola, Florida, for the past year.
We incorporate practices, exercises, and mindfulness coaching into the medical marijuana aspect of wellness. Understanding and applying the importance of being present at the moment, being aware of your feelings and emotions, and how to successfully set the right mindset and environment for using cannabis as an aid in the treatment of severe conditions like anxiety, depression, chronic pain, etc.
Introducing mindfulness as a tool to our patients and clients allows them to know how to consume cannabis more consciously. Through intentional training and coaching, each individual can learn to understand how they’re feeling, what they’re going through, assess their emotions, their physical sensations, and really use medical marijuana as a healer more efficiently.
Let me give you an example: Let’s say that you’re going through an outburst of anxiety. Borderline of a panic attack. And you have cannabis available as something to help you through that. What will you do? Are you going to grab your vape pen and just draw as you need? No. Your body is not ready for that. Your mind is not prepared for that. And you might end up overdoing it and regretting the effects later.
By incorporating these mindfulness practices, breathing exercises, and awareness exercises into what you do can help you to refocus, center yourself, and comprehend the reason behind using medical marijuana. Through these practices, you can better control reactions at the moment, and articulate what you are feeling. Once you have redirected and focused your mind, before reaching for your vape pen, you’re going to be more conscious of how to use it mindfully.
We believe that mindfulness, it’s not an end goal. Mindfulness is part of your journey. Being mindful, being aware, it’s essential. Mindfulness is understanding your feelings, your emotions, your body, and connecting deeper with yourself and then applying that into different moments of your day.
However, it’s crucial to move beyond awareness. Awareness without taking action creates limitations in direction. It doesn’t go anywhere.
Our solution to this is done by coaching our clients to become more aware, become more mindful, and to understand the positive self-worth. Once that foundation is covered, we incorporate those foundational steps into wellness routines, including; medical marijuana, meditation, yoga, exercises, and meal planning.
As a holistic practice, we incorporate all of these things together according to each individual’s lifestyle. It’s not about medication only, it’s about the mindset. It’s about your surroundings. It’s putting all those things together so you can discover how your mind, your mood, and your manner connect with each other, and how you can develop a better way of living.
So, how do mindfulness and medical marijuana correlate? It’s really about understanding how you feel before, during, and after using cannabis. Keeping a journal of your experiences, trying different strains, and understanding the differences between a Sativa, Indica, or even a hybrid strain. It’s about taking the time to understand the most appropriate method of intake for each individual lifestyle.
How is your body responding to tinctures versus inhalation? Our recommendation is for you to recognize how unique your experience is and learn from the experience itself, so your routine begins making room for success in your life.
We’re here to help our clients by offering these questions and solutions to you. How are you using medical marijuana? How mindful are you of your use of cannabis? How are you really benefiting from it? Is that just a clutch that you use whenever you feel pain, may it be emotional, or physical? Or is it a tool that you use wisely when needed? Is that just a remedy? Or are you really integrating that on your life and accessing it efficiently?
